Overton was a standout combo guard in the basketball rich Triad area of North Carolina. He averaged 14.6 points, 6.2 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game as a junior, attracted scholarship offers from Louisville, Auburn and Tennessee and even considered playing both football and basketball at Clemson. He is still listed on some NBA draft scouting websites.
