Frances Tophill Biography:-

Frances Ruth Tophill is a popular horticulturist and television presenter from Kent, England. She was born in Deal, Kent, and has a sister named Charlie. As of 2023, she is around 34 years old, and her ethnicity is White. She graduated from Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) – Edinburgh Campus in 2013 with a B.Sc. degree in Horticulture and Plantsmanship.

Early in her life, Tophill’s mother gave her a large planter, which sparked her interest in gardening at age 6-7. However, she did not consider gardening as a career until she was 19. Her mother suggested that Frances apply for a local gardening apprenticeship at Salutation Gardens, and she worked there for almost two and a half years. She later chose SRUC Edinburgh to study for her Bachelors after her apprenticeship.

Tophill’s TV career began while she was still studying for her Bachelors. The staff at ITV show Love your Garden sent an email to Frances’ college and her class, and Frances was offered the job after giving her screen test. Frances joined the Love your Garden cast and started travelling the country, transforming the gardens of people for its second season in 2012. She mentions that her biggest challenge was overcoming her shyness, as she is not naturally extroverted. Frances’s role is mostly plant-based, working in the garden throughout the whole rebuilding of the garden and working with the landscaping team when required. She also started to co-present for “Gardener’s World,” a long-running BBC television program about gardening in 2016.
