Kara Frederick Biography:-

The Heritage Foundation’s Tech Policy Center is directed by Kara Frederick. Her study focuses on emerging technology policy and “Big Tech.”

She worked as a fellow for the Center for a New American Security’s Technology & National Security Program before joining Heritage, where she focused on high-tech illiberalism, data privacy, and digital monitoring.

Kara co-founded and oversaw Facebook’s Global Security Counterterrorism Analysis Program prior to CNAS. She also served as the team leader for the Menlo Park, California-based Regional Intelligence Team at Facebook Headquarters. She was a Senior Intelligence Analyst for a U.S. company before joining Facebook. Naval Special Warfare Command and worked for the Department of Defense for six years as a counterterrorism analyst. She supported special operations forces in Afghanistan three times while working for the Department of Defense, briefed the assistant secretary of defense for special operations/low intensity conflict, and acted as a liaison to the National Security Agency.

She frequently appears on Fox News and Fox Business, as well as CNBC, C-SPAN, NPR, BBC, Voice of America, CBS’s 60 Minutes, and other domestic and foreign shows. The Wall Street Journal, Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, War on the Rocks, Manhattan Institute’s City Journal, C4ISRNet, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, USA Today, The Economist, Bloomberg, Axios, POLITICO, The Hill, Defense One, and other publications have all published her work.

She spent two years as a lecturer on technology and international affairs at the Elliott School of International Affairs at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Kara has testified before the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism and is currently a Fellow with the National Security Institute at George Mason University’s Antonin Scalia Law School.

Her BA in history and foreign affairs from the University of Virginia, where she played Division I soccer, and her MA in war studies from King’s College London, respectively, were both earned by the Marine Corps brat.
