Illinois native Lindsay Kantha Souvannarath lives in Geneva. She was given a life term in prison in April 2018 for her participation in the Halifax Mass Shooting Plot. After murdering James Gamble’s parents and sharing a virginity, she and her partner prepared to carry out a mass massacre at a mall in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

She said that Souvannarath showed a “creepy” fascination in Nazis in high school. Szigeti said, “I met Lindsay at the role-playing group in my high school. “We engaged in such activities as Dungeons and Dragons.”
She said that Souvannarath’s insistence on portraying a Nazi ghost made other pupils uncomfortable. She remarked, “Most of us would play kind giants and elves. It was quite strange.
Other indications that Szigeti was concerned were statements she made such as “dumb people deserve to die,” according to Szigeti.
She was a member of her writing group, and according to her, her work was very aggressive, graphic, and visceral.
Szigeti, however, said that when she graduated in 2010, “none of the professors could have understood” how troubled she was since she was “extremely quiet in class.”

Lindsay Souvannarath earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and Creative Writing from Coe College, a liberal arts institution in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 2014.

James Gamble and Lindsay Souvannarath connected on Tumblr and for a month before to the assault, they spoke on Facebook about their shared interest in the Columbine High School Massacre and Nazis. The two had intended to murder his parents first, have sex afterwards, and then assault the mall on the day of the attack.
According to an agreed statement of facts given to the court, Souvannarath believed she was a sex goddess with superior intelligence who was entitled to cull the inferior and that “racial and ethnic realities must be righted via violence.” She also believed she was entitled to cull the inferior.
She is and will continue to pose a threat to public safety, Justice Peter Rosinski of the Nova Scotia Supreme Court told the court.
The court said that neither Souvannarath nor her ideological justifications for the conspiracy had been shown to be sorry for their heinous scheme.
