Hendon Hooker Biography:-

American football quarterback Alan Hendon Hooker plays for the Tennessee Volunteers. Before moving to Tennessee in 2021, he played for the Virginia Tech Hokies.

Hooker attended Greensboro, North Carolina’s James B. Dudley High School. He carried for 2,975 yards and 48 touchdowns while rushing for 6,027 yards throughout his high school career. He concluded his playing days there as Dudley’s all-time leading passer, won the All-State Player of the Year award from NC Preps, and twice made the Associated Press All-State team. Dudley won two state titles under his direction, and Hooker was named MVP of the 2016 tournament after scoring six touchdowns. He played basketball for the high school while still playing football, accumulating more than 1,000 points and earning three All-Metro league selections. Hooker finished his career at Dudley and was rated as a 3 star quarterback by Rivals.com and a 4 star prospect by 247Sports.

Hooker had offers from schools including Oregon, Clemson, Virginia Tech, Army, Pittsburgh, NC State, Missouri, Notre Dame, and more after graduating from high school. In 2016, Hooker committed to Virginia Tech after touring their campus, saying, “When we stepped foot on the big stage, on that game field, it just felt right.” Hooker would sign up early for courses at the institution and start attending in January. He battled Josh Jackson, a redshirt freshman, for the starting quarterback job as a freshman in 2017, but eventually lost out and was redshirted before to the start of the 2018 season. After their current quarterback Ryan Willis threw 7 interceptions in 4 games, Hooker was named the starting for 2019. Hendon helped the Hokies win five games when he was on the field, which helped them qualify for a bowl game after starting the season with two wins and two defeats. He started 15 of the 25 games he played in for Virginia Tech throughout his career, completing 197 of 312 passes for 2,894 yards, 22 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He changed schools to the University of Tennessee in 2021. Before taking over as the starter, he started the season as Joe Milton’s backup.

Private life

On January 13, 1998, Hooker was born in Greensboro, North Carolina. He is the son of Wendy Hooker and quarterback Alan Hooker, both of North Carolina A&T fame. Hooker has two siblings: his younger brother Alston, a quarterback at North Carolina A&T, and his elder sister Nile, who has assisted Hooker with managing his social media presence and NIL partnerships.

Christian Hooker considers it a “benefit” that his parents encouraged him and his siblings to become involved in religion at a young age. All of Hooker’s effort has been credited to his parents, and he claims that his father’s influence and guidance during his time in the church’s youth ministry made him realize that he “can utilize the game [football] to convey the message of Jesus Christ.”

The ABCs of Scripture for Athletes is a children’s book that Hooker and his brother wrote with the goal of influencing the younger generation and his younger cousin Landon. The effort was intended to have “a beneficial effect on the lives of children in his neighborhood,” according to Hendon. The book combines an alphabet with a sports theme to teach children the Bible.
