About Lawrence Chaney:-
Lawrence Chaney is the stage name of Lawrence Maidment, a drag performer and one of the Season 2 contestants of “RuPaul’s Drag Race UK”.
In an interview conducted by METRO, Lawrence explained the origin of their Drag name. “Lawrence” comes from their real name Lawrence Maidment. “Chaney” was inspired by a 1920s prolific silent movie star. Lawrence explained “He was known as the man of a thousand faces and I’m known as the queen of a thousand faces, because I’m good at impersonation, stupid voices and general buffoonery.”

Lawrence Chaney is Scottish Drag Royalty!
Lawrence is an actor and comedian, hailing from Glasgow in Scotland. In 2017, Chaney became a regular contributor for BBC’s The Social online platform and was then scouted for BBC Scotland’s ‘Mother Tuckers: Drag Queens of Glasgow’ documentary.
Following this were other appearances in BBC Scotland productions such as ‘Mirror, Mirror’ and ‘Insider’s Guide’ which was her hosting debut.
In July of 2019, she was also chosen to appear in a testimonial based ad campaign for Glasgow’s SPT Subway ‘My Glasgow, My Subway’ promotion.
After becoming a regular face of drag in clubs and TV in Scotland, Chaney is now competing for the title of “The UK’s Next Drag Superstar” in Series 2 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race UK” airing from the 14th January on BBC 3.
