Coming from a large family of the Russian nobility on the paternal side and Belgian on the maternal side, he is the grand-nephew of the Russian writer Vladimir Nabokov (first cousin of his grandfather Sergei Nabokoff, director of the Reuters agency for Benelux), and his great-great-grandfather is the Minister of Justice Dimitri Nikolaïevich Nabokov during the reign of Alexander II. His father, Nicolas Nabokoff, a senior civil servant and administrator of the SDRW, died prematurely in 1985, when Michel was 11 years old. At the end of this period, he developed a reflection on the specificities and technological and environmental needs of the Russian agricultural sector. Inspired by this, he turned to a major manufacturer of agricultural equipment to whom he proposed a global project for a sustainable commercial establishment integrated into the local agricultural academic network, with a network of pilot farms on large scales. Finally, the project does not see the light of day.

So dad of a 4-year-old son, not seeing how to balance his family life while continuing to work in agriculture, he decides to stop traveling, and to make a new professional transition.
