Tom Harrison Biography:-

Tom Harrison, a legendary Canadian rock writer and critic, died on Christmas Day after suffering a stroke. He will be remembered for the time and effort he put into the Vancouver music scene, his love of music, his writing talent, and his support of bands regardless of whether others covered them.

Harrison was the eldest of five children and was born in St. Boniface, a French-Canadian-speaking city within Winnipeg, according to his official website. Harrison and his family settled in North Vancouver after moving around Canada. He became fascinated with the music scene in the early 1970s, he claims, and began collecting records and listening to the radio. But it wasn’t until high school that he realized he had a talent for writing.

His first job was at the Toronto-based music publication Beetle. Harrison wrote to the publication’s editor after one of its music critics “irritated” him. Then he submitted his own reviews to demonstrate his ability to “put up or shut up.” The editor contacted him, and his first review – of a Magma album – was published. When Beetle went bankrupt in 1975, George Straight hired him to replace Bob Geldof, who had returned to Ireland.
