Justin Jones Biography:-

Justin Shea Bautista-Jones is a young American activist and politician from Tennessee. He was born in Oakland, California, on August 25, 1995. Jones attended Fisk University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree, and later enrolled at Vanderbilt Divinity School.

Jones gained national attention in 2018 when he was arrested for refusing to leave a rally held by Marsha Blackburn, a Republican senator from Tennessee. Jones was protesting against Blackburn’s views on healthcare and women’s rights. This incident made him a prominent figure in the political landscape of Tennessee.

In 2019, Jones campaigned for the removal of a bust of Nathan Bedford Forrest, a Confederate general and the first Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, from the Tennessee State Capitol. This effort was successful, and the bust was eventually removed.

Later that year, Jones made headlines again when he was charged with assaulting Glen Casada, a member of the Tennessee House of Representatives. Jones allegedly threw a drink at Casada during a heated debate over the bust of Nathan Bedford Forrest. The charges were later dropped, and Jones continued his activism for racial justice.

In 2020, Jones organized a 62-day sit-in protest outside the state capitol building in Nashville in response to the murder of George Floyd. The protest aimed to draw attention to police brutality and systemic racism in the United States. Jones was arrested and faced 14 charges, but all of them were eventually dropped.

In 2019, Jones announced his candidacy for the United States House of Representatives in Tennessee’s 5th congressional district, but he did not submit enough valid signatures to make the ballot.

In 2022, Jones ran for the Tennessee House of Representatives for the 52nd district after the incumbent, Mike Stewart, announced he would not seek re-election. Jones won the Democratic Party primary election against Delishia Porterfield, a member of the Metropolitan Council of Nashville and Davidson County. He went on to win the general election unopposed.

In March 2023, following a mass shooting at The Covenant School in Nashville, Jones joined a protest for gun control reform at the state capitol. As a result, he was removed from his committees in the Tennessee House of Representatives.
